Sticks and Cones Works Hard to Promote Charlotte's Food Truck Industry!
From the start, we envisioned our Cones soft-serve truck as more than an ice cream truck, we positioned it as a gourmet dessert truck. And as such, we established ourselves as a founding member of Charlotte's food truck industry.
We were one of the original trucks who created the hugely popular Food Truck Friday in Charlotte's SouthEnd. And our influence on Charlotte's food truck industry doesn't end there. Karen owns the website CharlotteFoodTrucks.org, the premier destination for customers looking for food truck contact information to hire trucks. She and Dave also own EatFromATruck.com and schedule food trucks at rallies and events throughout the area. In 2016, we presented the Carolinas' Largest Food Truck Rally at the Music Factory in Charlotte, presenting more than 80 trucks, three bands, and one fantastic event!
We were also vocal opponents of Charlotte's restrictive food truck laws, and attended every meeting of the City's Planning Department Citizens' Advisory Committee to help hammer out revisions that would benefit our industry. We met privately with several City Council members to describe our industry and answer questions. Karen spoke before a meeting of the entire council and Mayor. And sure enough, when the laws finally passed in the spring of 2017, they passed with revisions that are light-years better than what was previously in place, and represent almost every change we advocated to be adopted. As a result, Charlotte's food trucks will remain in business!
